Since 2015, we have been working in Enel Peru on the progressive implementation of the remote management system in our medium voltage grids, with the aim of significantly improving the electric service quality.
Remote Management System Benefits
Remote management allows a fast identification of problems in the grid which generate power outages, reducing the time to restore the power supply service.
It should be noted that the duration of these outages is part of the SAIDI, an indicator that is measured by Osinergmin (regulator) to determine the electric service quality of a power distribution company.
We plan to have 729 devices, 118 power distribution substations and 95 remote-controlled feeders by the end of 2018.
New Technologies for Remote Management Automation
The second phase of this project is automation, which will allow to reduce even more the time to restore electric power: if there is a problem in the grid, only the affected area will be automatically isolated. Although we currently have only one feeder with this technology, Enel Peru is committed to continuing enhancing the development of new technologies to automate the remote management system in the next years.
