Since 2018, Enel Generación Piura is making an effort to implement the Energy Management System in the Malacas Thermal Power Plant based on the ISO 50001 standard. This system ―involving all the production processes― will help optimise energy performance by executing continuous improvement plans, thus reducing greenhouse gases emissions, energy costs and other related environmental impacts.
The main activities to be performed as part of the Energy Management System are:
- Periodic energy audits that help be aware of significant energy uses.
- System performance analysis by the Energy Management Committee, who will promote the implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Implementation of operational controls to maintain the power plant’s energy performance within the expected parameters.
- Inclusion of energy performance criteria when acquiring new products of hiring services.
