In 2016, the Ventanilla Power Plant  of Enel Generación Perú  received the ISO 50001 certification of its Energy Management System, becoming the Peru’s first power plant in having such certification.

This system makes possible to measure the power plant’s energy performance and establish progressive improvement plans, which allow to use available resources in a better way, thus contributing to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases, energy cost and other related environmental impacts.

The main activities related to Enel Generación Perú’s Energy Management System are:

- Periodic energy audits: They allow us to know where we use energy the most.

- System performance analysis: It is performed by the Energy Management Committee, which promotes the implementation of improvement initiatives.

- Implementation of operational controls: It’s objective is to maintain power plants’ energy performance within the expected parameters.

- Incorporation of energy performance criteria: This is performed when acquiring new products and hiring services.

As for Santa Rosa Thermal Power Plant , the results of its energy audit will be the basis to implement the ISO 50001 standard, expecting to receive its certification soon.
