What is workplace sexual harassment?

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Email
  • Print

The workplace sexual harassment is all negative conduct of sexual or sexist connotation, unwanted or rejected by the person against whom it is directed. This causes the harassed person to feel offended, humiliated and / or intimidated, affecting their fundamental rights.

This act can occur between people who have a hierarchical employment relationship or between those who have the same hierarchical level within an organization.

Why is it necessary to get rid of excuses?

Because misinformation and ignorance affect both the people who commit these acts as well as the people who suffer from it. Bullies often normalize or justify their actions using as an excuse their ignorance on the subject. On the other hand, people who suffer from it, consciously or unconsciously, overlook many offensive attitudes because they are not sure whether or not those acts constitute workplace harassment.

Excuses

  • It was just a look.
  • I didn't know that was harassment.
  • But it's just a joke.
