Lima, April 8th, 2020. Enel Perú has been running the campaign “Que Nuestra Energía Nunca Se Detenga” (“May our energy never stop”), to contribute in the fight against COVID-19 and mitigation of its effects in the country. In this framework, Enel Perú enabled a fund of 2.2 million soles that will be used to acquire medical supplies, Individual Protective Devices, food, and water, in addition to promoting the development of a low-cost fan prototype.

These contributions are in addition to the measures adopted by the company from the first moment of the State of Emergency, which have always prioritized ensuring the continuity of the electrical service for its customers, especially those in vulnerable situations. Likewise, it has enabled various virtual channels for procedures and queries that can be found on the website www.enel.pe

“The country is experiencing a critical situation which requires that we all work together. Along these lines, the ‘May our energy never stop’ initiative aims to help contain the negative effects of contagion with concrete contributions to the health system and the most vulnerable populations, in addition to guaranteeing continuity of the electrical service for households and the establishments fighting this evil ”, emphasized José Manuel Revuelta, Country Manager of Enel Perú.

Contributions to the health system and basic needs

Enel is managing the donation of medical supplies for the establishments of the national health system dedicated to the treatment of COVID-19 in Lima and in the different areas where its power generation plants are present. Other basic needs will also be covered in these areas, such as access to food and water.

Additionally, the company has been delivering Individual Protective Devices that will reach more than 4 thousand people and 240 health professionals in the regions where Enel has electricity generating plants, to minimize the risk of contagion of the population. The company has also been giving baskets containing food and water to families living in poverty.

On the other hand, Enel has taken measures to ensure the electrical supply of hospitals and health centers in its concession area. This measure will also reach temporary premises that, by order of the Government or local institutions, are assigned to patient care, and to companies whose work has been declared of essential support to the health sector.

Support through other entities

Enel Perú also made contributions to the fund managed by CONFIEP for the purchase of medical equipment and for the development of a low-cost respirator prototype, which will b carried out by the Cayetano Heredia University. Both measures seek to strengthen the installed capacity of health centers nationwide, given the eventual growth in the number of patients requiring special care.

Enel employees join

At the same time, Enel Perú employees donated 100,000 soles as part of a voluntary internal collection campaign to strengthen the activities that the company has been carrying out nationwide. All collaborators chose these activities through a survey. This amount will be doubled by Enel Perú.
