  • Enel Distribución Perú completed the construction of a new transmission line that will guarantee the electrical service continuity in the country’s most populated district.

Lima, October 9th, 2019. – Enel Distribución Perú has just put into service a high-voltage aerial-underground transmission line that will allow the interconnection of the Mariátegui and Mirador electrical transmission substations (ETS), which are located between the districts of San Juan de Lurigancho and Antonio de Huarochirí.  20 thousand neighbors will benefit from this installation.

This 11 km long transmission line represented an estimated investment of S/ 13 million and will allow more electricity to be transported to the Mariátegui substation, which supplies the San Juan de Lurigancho area.

The transmission line runs on a 60kV network, considered a high voltage network; in other words, it is a more robust network that can carry more energy in comparison to a medium voltage network (10 or 20kV)

“San Juan de Lurigancho is the district with the highest growth and the largest population in our concession.  Thus, the construction of this new transmission line was essential for the continuity of the electric service”, said Santos Amado, Head of HV Operating Unit Perú of Enel Distribution Perú. “With this new transmission line we will increase the quality, safety and reliability of our service,” added the representative.

As part of the project construction, Enel maintained a fluid communication with the residents of the nearby areas: awareness-raising works were carried out, dialogue tables were opened to answer questions from leaders and communities, and opportunities for improvement were identified.

Enel Distribución Perú is an electrical company managed by the Enel Group, an Italian firm with presence in over 34 countries.  It has 1.4 million clients in Northern Lima, Central Lima and the Near North Coast of Lima.
