Lima, March 6th, 2019. – Enel Distribución Perú culminated an important stage of the ongoing project in the Near North Coast of Lima: the Electrical Transmission Substation (SET, by its initials in Spanish) named Medio Mundo. Such stage consisted in the construction of towers for the high-tension connection lines of 220kV, which will supply the substation with power.

The lattice metal towers were built along 2 km and will be part of the new transmission lines system. Furthermore, hundreds of cubic meters of sand and terrain were removed in coordination with various agro-industrial owners of the area where the high-tension transmission lines are located. All of these works were carried out using high-end technology, incorporating an alternative method of tower mounting with a 50-ton capacity crane, along with innovation, without leaving behind environmental care and rigorous fulfilment of the safety protocols.

“One of our principles as a High Tension Team is to work in rigorous fulfilment of the norms and safety protocols and the environment, with a firm commitment to avoid any contingencies, that is to say, ‘zero’ environmental impact and ‘zero’ accidents. This will be one of the most transcendental projects of Enel in the Near North Coast, due to its magnitude and modernity”, said Javier Villavicencio, Head of the High Tension Team.

It is also worth mentioning that the construction of the Medio Mundo SET will constitute the first installation of Enel Distribución that will include a digital control system, which has vastly superior benefits and advantages in comparison to the automatized installations that have been used so far.

Enel Distribución Perú is a power company of the Enel Group, an Italian company with presence in more than 34 countries. It has 1.4 million customers in Northern Lima, Central Lima and the Near North Coast of Lima.
