Enel Distribución Perú's investments exceed 185 million soles.

Lima, 23 August 2016 – Over one million people a year have gained access to electricity over the last ten thanks to the mass electrification programme of Enel Distribución Perú.

To achieve the goal, a specialised department was created to deal with the requests coming from shantytowns, and investments were doubled to meet the increase in demand, set up grids and build electrical substations.

Electrifications have benefited the districts of San Juan de Lurigancho, Ventanilla, Carabayllo, Puente Piedra, San Martín de Porres, Pachacútec and Ancón.

The Miracle of Supply

Twenty years ago, Enel Distribución Perú had only 580 thousand customers, which represented 76% of its concession area. One in four people had no electricity.

“The electricity sector is a fundamental pillar of economic and social progress; it drives production, increases job creation and improves education and health care. That is, it opens the door to new opportunities for growth”, said Eduardo del Carpio, Market Assistant Manager.

Today, we have 1.4 million customers, and access to electricity in our concession area, in Northern Lima and the Near North Coast of Lima, reaches almost 100%.
