The Los Buenos Aires wind farm will be built in the municipality of Los Angeles, about 500 km south of Santiago de Chile.

Rome, 9 July 2015 – Enel Green Power (EGP) has begun construction of Los Buenos Aires, the company's first wind farm, in the Chilean region of Bio-Bio.

The wind farm, owned by Enel Green Power Chile Ltda, will have a total installed capacity of 24 MW. Once fully operational, the new plant will generate more than 86 GWh a year—equivalent to the annual consumption needs of some 40 thousand Chilean households—, while avoiding the annual emission of more than 41 thousand tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

The project is supported by a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Empresa Nacional de Electricidad S.A. (Endesa Chile). EGP will invest approximately 55 million US dollars in the construction of the new plant, in line with the growth targets set out in the company’s current business plan.

The project will be financed through the resources of the Enel Green Power Group. The energy generated by the wind farm will be delivered to Chile’s Central Region Transmission Network (SIC).

In Chile, EGP currently operates a portfolio of plants with a combined installed capacity of about 600 MW, of which 340 MW come from wind power, 154 MW from photovoltaic power and 92 from hydropower.
