Lima, 18 February 2016 – The HER project will have an investment of 3 million US dollars.

Enel Generación Perú, a member of Enel Group, was awarded a 20-year energy supply contract for the Huampaní HER (Hydro Energy Recovery) project at the Fourth Auction of Energy Supply from Renewable Resources.

The HER project is located downstream the Huampaní hydroelectric plant’s engine room, in the district of Lurigancho-Chosica, in the province of Lima. The project considers the installation of two turbines over the discharge channel of the plant, with a total power of 0.7 MW.

Investment and Benefits

The project will use the turbine flow rate of the Huampaní hydroelectric plant to produce 5.4 GWh/year on average for Huampaní HER. It also considers the building of a small transmission line to the Huampaní substation.

Enel Generación Perú will invest more than 3 million US dollars to build the project, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2017.

The total annual energy auctioned by Osinergmin will allow the inclusion of new projects for energy production from renewable sources as of December 2018, thereby expanding the energy matrix with eco-friendly infrastructure.

During the auction, Enel Green Power Perú was awarded a total capacity of 326 MW through a wind power project (126 MW), a solar power project (180 MW) and a hydropower project (20 MW).
