Lima, 7 October 2014 – The Ventanilla thermal power plant owned by Enel Generación Perú was recognised for its Energy Management System.

SGS awarded the Ventanilla thermal power plant, owned by Enel Generación Perú, with the ISO 50001 certification for its Energy Management System, aimed at the efficient and systematic use of energy to reduce production costs and minimise greenhouse gas emissions.

To achieve such important goal, Enel Generación Perú’s Exploitation Management team—made up of departments such as Operation Management, Environment, Operation and Maintenance—worked tirelessly for a year to prepare, design and implement the Energy Management System.

Likewise, training workshops as well as data production and collection were necessary to certificate the system and include it into the Integrated Management System.

Energy efficiency is both a target and a means in electrical generation processes. Now the challenge and future plan is to implement it in all Enel Generación Perú’s power stations.
