Lima, 12 December 2015 – Measures aim to contribute to population safety within the field of influence.
In order to be prepared for eventual negative effects caused by El Niño, Enel Generación Perú is currently taking actions that will contribute to population safety within its field of influence and ensure the operation of its power generation plant and proper water supply.
One of the measures is the roofing of different Huampaní canal’s sections, located in Chosica, close to the hydroelectric power plant of the same name. This hundred-year-old canal goes over 5 km across an urban area, so it is highly important for the electric company to pay special attention to its maintenance.
Safety for All
Enel Generación Perú considers canal roofing a priority, since it is crucial to prevent people from throwing rubbish and children from playing or bathing, putting their lives at risk. In this way, the company contributes to population safety and, at the same time, protects and preserves the environment.
Works included the lining of several canal sections through the construction of walls and canal beds, the concrete overlay on some parts for the future roofing, the cut of unwanted plants and the removal of debris.
