Enel Distribución Perú Renews Technology to Improve Lighting Service

The process will enhance street lightning infrastructure in the districts of our concession area.

Lima, 2 November 2014 – The initiative involves the specific replacement of power poles and low voltage (LV) boards, an investment that will allow us to provide a better service and greater security to residents and our technical personnel.

The project will replace 60,000 poles and 6,000 LV boards, an important part of the total network comprising 360,000 posts and 8,400 boards. In both cases, new technologies will improve the operation of the units to provide a high-quality service.

Benefits of New Technology

So far, 24,700 units have been replaced with new poles made of synthetic material and fiberglass. They provide a number of benefits:

  • Better mechanical performance
  • Greater resistance to climate factors
  • Reduced risk in the installation process due to lower weight
  • More safety in case of events such as a car accidents.
     

On the other hand, about 3,100 LV boards have been replaced to date with others made of synthetic material. Among the benefits are:

  • Greater resistance to climate factors
  • Better electrical safety response
