Enel has a project portfolio of 1,710 MW in Peru.

Lima, 14 October 2015 – Enel, through Enel Generación Piura, will invest 55 million US dollars in the Malacas Thermal Power Station (Piura) to make its operations more efficient. The project, called TG6, will come into operation in 2017 and replace three old turbines with a modern one.

The company's board of directors awarded Siemens Industrial the supply of a state-of-the-art gas turbine with an approximate output of 51.8 MW, valued at about 30 million U.S. dollars.

To Enel, this project is of great importance because it will replace old units with more efficient technology, while consolidating the position of Enel Generación Piura in the north of the country.

The TG6 project uses the synergies of the current thermal power station: energy evacuation and gas supply at competitive prices. Thus, Enel reaffirms its commitment to the development of the Peruvian electricity sector.

More Investments

Enel's new investments will focus on hydropower and natural gas generation, thereby contributing to a cleaner generation matrix with less greenhouse gas emissions.

In this sense, the project portfolio in Peru integrates seven projects with a capacity to generate 1,710 MW. Representatives of Enel explained that the criteria for the construction of its project portfolio are based on profitability, development time and socio-environmental viability.
