28 European Start-Ups Awarded for Innovation in Clean Technologies

Each start-up received up to 150 thousand euros and a 6-month incubation program.

Rome, 19 January 2016 – INternet Cleantech ENablers Spark (INCENSe), a project focused on innovation in clean technologies and energy in Europe, chose 28 winning start-ups in its second open call at a ceremony held at Enel headquarters in Rome.

Each winning start-up received up to 150 thousand euros along with a 6-month incubation program. In addition, they were offered the following benefits:

  • Training sessions with experts in the sector
  • Customised workshops on European funding programs
  • Business support from partners and the INCENSe network
  • Opportunity to work on the development and verification of their projects at INCENSe

257 applications were submitted in the contest; they came from small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs from all over Europe and Israel.

Enel Promotes Innovation

The award is an initiative launched by Enel and many other organisations. “With INCENSe, Enel consolidates once again its commitment to support innovation, entrepreneurship as well as social and economic growth”, said Enel General Manager Francesco Starace.

In the first call, 14 start-ups completing the programme were chosen; about half of them are working on their projects with INCENSe partners.

The event was attended by public figures such as Giuliano Poletti, Italian Minister of Labour and Social Policy, representatives of the European Commission, and Enel CEO Francesco Starace.
