More than solar energy
Peru’s history is the history of men, the land and their relation to the sun. From time immemorial, the sun has shaped and awaken mystery in our world view, and it reawakens today to build a new history, a new future of clean and renewable energy.
In the desert of Moquegua, Enel Green Power, Enel Perú’s renewables division, has started the operations of Rubi, Peru’s largest solar power plant.
More than half a million solar panels in perfect harmony with nature seize the arid climate and high-radiation conditions of one of the regions with the highest energy potential in Peru. From 6 am to 6 pm, a period in which the sun intensity is high, Rubi’s solar panels follow the sun’s movements, receiving an amount of energy that can generate 440 GW/h of renewable energy per year, which is equivalent to the consumption of over 350 thousand Peruvian households.
Rubi’s mission goes beyond providing thousands of Peruvians with solar energy. Rubi is the door to a new energy era that is environmentally-friendly and sustainable over time. This help us materialise one of our biggest desires: stop the emission of polluting gases by 2050.
