Enel Generación Perú Cleans Rímac and Santa Eulalia Riverbeds to Avoid Contingencies in Power Generation Plants

Lima, 28 January 2016 – The summer action plan to face El Niño is on.

Prevention and clean-up of the Rímac and Santa Eulalia riverbeds were performed by Enel Generación Perú in order to avoid eventual contingencies that may affect the normal operation of the Huampaní, Moyopampa, Huinco and Callahuanca hydroelectric plants. 

Comprehensive Prevention Plan

The electricity production company conducted desilting and clean-up works on the Rímac River, upstream the turbine water discharge of the Huampaní and Moyopampa plants. In addition, clean-up of the retaining walls on the slope adjoining the Moyopampa plant was also performed.   

In the Matucana hydroelectric plant, Enel Generación Perú examined the Songos ravine, through which the plant’s surplus water flows, as well as the Matucana-Callahuanca tunnel. By the Santa Eulalia River, the company performed clean-up and desilting works in the Moyopampa intake, while in the Huinco plant, in front of its reservoir, the company is to place mesh guards on the slopes where fractured rocks were spotted. 

In the Antashupa intake, the company rose protection gabions in areas prone to landslides. Meanwhile, in the Marcapomacocha channel, clean-up of sewers and drainage pipes was done to ensure its proper operation.
