Enel Generación Perú Restores Strategic Road for Residents of Santa Eulalia Valley

Lima, 4 February 2016 – Huarochirí residents can now safely transport their agricultural products through Puente Verde.

Santa Eulalia Valley and residents of the districts of Callahuanca, Carampoma, Huachupampa, Huanza, Laraos, San Antonio, San Juan de Iris and San Pedro de Casta, in the province of Huarochirí, will have a restored Puente Verde—their main access road to the aforementioned towns and the Huinco hydroelectric plant. Residents of this communities will be able to travel and transport their agricultural products safely.   

Better Roads

Restoration was conducted by Enel Generación Perú as part of its social responsibility activities in order to prevent damages in case of a possible rise of the Santa Eulalia River and face the consequences of El Niño event.

Works included the reinforcement of the structure showing sinkholes due to the river flow and adjoining slopes, and the disposal of river waste and rocks, among other activities.

Puente Verde is a strategic road for the municipalities located in the Santa Eulalia Valley, since it contributes not only to the development of domestic tourism but also to the trade of products such as Fuerte avocados, cherimoyas, apples and basic crop products, which are essential for the local food supply.
