It will benefit more than 123 thousand residential, commercial and industrial customers in the company’s concession area.

Lima, 10 November 2016 – Enel Distribución Perú (former Edelnor) inaugurated today the Malvinas Transmission Substation (TS), located in Downtown Lima. The event was attended by Gonzalo Tamayo, Peruvian Minister of Energy and Mines; Mauro Marsili, Ambassador of Italy to Peru; and Carlos Temboury, Enel Group’s Country Manager in Peru.

Enel Distribución Perú invested around 75 million dollars in the construction of the substation, an important infrastructure that will allow to meet the increase in demand and supply with electric power the future Line 2 of the Lima Metro.

Space-Saving Technology

This Transmission Station is the most modern ever built in Peru, as it has the latest space-saving GIS technology, which significantly reduces the built area.

Thanks to GIS cells, the Malvinas TS takes up an area of 3,600 m2 and has a power capacity similar to the one of the Mirador TS, also owned by Enel Distribución Perú and located in Jicamarca (province of Huarochirí) over 20,000 m2.

The construction of the Malvinas TS required a total of 700 thousand man-hours and the installation of a 20-km transmission line delivering 220kV with a 3-km underground section under important avenues such as Panamericana Norte, Túpac Amaru, Enrique Meiggs and even the Rímac River.
