They collected plastic caps during five weeks for a good cause.

Lima, 15 September 2016 NG is a 9-year-old little girl and patient in Hospital del Niño (Children’s Hospital) that suffers from microcephaly, cerebral palsy and epilepsy. She lives in the district of San Martín de Porres and has been bedridden since birth.

After the workers of Enel Peru heard about her case, they decided to collect plastic caps for both a human and environmental cause. NG’s mother received the donation before the authorities of Peruvian Institute for Children's Health.

Teamwork

Enel Peru’s several offices nationwide, including Maranga’s commercial and administrative premises, the thermal power plants of Talara, Ventanilla and Santa Rosa and the Moyopampa hydroelectric power plant, agreed to collect 450 kilos of caps in order to obtain the wheelchair.

Instead of throwing the caps away, the team members collected them for a useful purpose.

Why Plastic Caps?

They decided to collect caps, because they are made not only with oil but also polypropylene, which is generally used to produce soda caps, but it takes a thousand years to degrade.

The collection of caps reduces plastic in the environment, thereby preventing the death of animals that may confuse them with food.
