Lima, 2 September 2015 – The generation company exported a total of 11440 MWh to Ecuador.

Enel Generación Perú exported to Ecuador 11440 MWh, energy associated to an average power output of 45 MW, under a power supply contract signed by the company above and Corporación Eléctrica de Ecuador (CELEC EP).

As stated in the agreement, CELEC EP required energy to reinforce Ecuador’s power system—as Paute hydroelectric power plant stopped operating—as well as interconnection works with the 487 MW Sopladora hydroelectric project.

More than Once

This is the second time this year that Enel Generación Perú exports electricity to Ecuador, the last one taking place from 1 to 12 August.

During the first operation carried out at the beginning of the year, Enel exported 15820 MWh and obtained a margin of 14 US$/MWh, just as in the second one. CELEP EP paid for all the extra charges incurred by such export in the Peruvian electricity market.

Through a 220 kV transmission line—an international connection—the Zorritos substation (Tumbes) exported electrical power to the Machala substation, located in the Ecuadorian province of El Oro, next to our country.
