Enel Generación Perú is a private company dedicated to the generation of electricity.

The history of the Company dates back to 1906, when Empresas Eléctricas Asociadas, private company dedicated to energy generation, transmission and distribution was founded. Many years later, in 1974, the absolute majority of the company’s capital was transferred to the State, and the company became Electrolima S.A.

In 1994, the company was divided into three business units: generation, transmission and distribution. The State gave over the control of the company in 1995 when it sold 60% of the social capital to the Generandes Consortium. The generation unit became Enel Generación Perú.

Then, in June 2006, Enel Generación Perú merged with Etevensa to integrate thermoelectric production into its business, thereby consolidating its leadership in the energy sector.

“Today we are one of the main private electricity generation companies in Peru. We have a total effective capacity of 1,677.7 MW, of which 47% come from hydroelectric power and 53% from thermoelectric power.”
