Lima, September 19th, 2022. Within the framework of the Ventanilla Emissary Project developed by the Ventanilla Thermal Power Plant from Enel Perú, which has been running since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, the electrical company has implemented the "Healthy Community Kitchens" initiative. The activity powered and strengthened the electrical network of three community kitchens in its direct area of influence in Callao, which are Parque Porcino, AAHH 18 de Octubre, and AAHH Casa Huerta Virgen de las Mercedes.

These community kitchens, which feed around 100 families each, now have electricity to run their operations and are benefiting from the works that connected their facilities to the power grid and improved their internal electrical infrastructure. Likewise, each one of them received donations of household appliances to assist their staff in the hard work they carry out daily, which included refrigerators, mixers, blenders, and electric kettles.

At Enel, we are very happy to support these Ventanilla kitchens because we know that they are very helpful for the community. The power, appliances, and everything else they have received will make cooking easier for them, and at the same time they will be able to support more people. We thank all of our allies, because this has been the result of the work Enel has been carrying out along with the Municipality of Callao, Enel X, and the local authorities. It has been a joint effort”, said Emma Rojas, Head of Sustainability Projects at Enel, during the donation of appliances.

Furthermore, Mariana Jiménez, General Manager of Social Programs of the Provincial Municipality of Callao, commented: “From the Municipality of Callao we praise and congratulate Enel for this initiative, as well as the ladies and all the people who allow these community kitchens to run day by day and support the vulnerable people that require it. On this occasion, Enel is making a basic and very important service available to these kitchens, as it supports food, education, health, etc. And, as electrification continues to expand, they keep improving the facilities so that they are safe”.

It should be noted that this initiative contributes to the achievement of the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDG): N° 5, Gender equality; N° 8, Decent work and economic growth; and N° 10, Reduction of inequalities.
