- The program seeks to bring access to electricity to 30 thousand families per year in the period 2022-2026.
Lima, July 18th, 2022. Continuing with the objective of reducing the gap in access to electricity through the "Energía para Crecer" (Energy to grow) program, Enel Perú inaugurated the definitive electrification of two zones, U3B and U3C, of the Laderas de Chillón community in Puente Piedra, where 319 families now have access to electricity.
“As residents of Laderas de Chillón, we are very happy to have electricity in our houses and street lighting as well. Now we feel safer and can walk very early in the morning or at night without fear of falling or tripping. We thank Enel for the support provided in this process,” said Teodosio Eguizabal, leader of the community. Access to energy will also benefit small businesses in the area such as grocery stores and bookstores, and even the communal kitchens that support the community.
"Energía para Crecer" is one of the initiatives of Enel Group to promote the energy transition worldwide. In this way, Maurizio Bezzeccheri, Enel's Director for Latin America, pointed out: "One of the pillars of the Enel Group worldwide, and especially in the Latin American region, is to close the gaps in access to electricity, since this will be essential for the global energy transition.
It should be noted that, in 2022 alone, "Energía para Crecer" seeks to benefit 30,000 families in the concession area of Enel Perú. The program also helps communities with the management of the necessary requirements. "We are advancing with the objective that we have set for ourselves in "Energía para Crecer", so to date we are processing the service of 21,000 families, of which works have already been completed for 7,300. We seek to leave the networks ready so that 30,000 families can connect to power grid and thus promote not only their development, but also that of their communities,” said Marco Fragale, Country Manager of Enel Perú.
