  • Both institutions will join efforts for the implementation of the Integrated Transportation System, in a more efficient and sustainable manner.

Lima, June 1, 2021. The Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU, by its initials in Spanish) and Enel X Perú signed an agreement today to articulate efforts, coordinate strategies, and carry out joint actions to boost the development of sustainable transport, promoting the use of electromobility in the Integrated Transportation System of Lima and Callao.

According to the signed agreement, both the ATU and Enel X Perú commit to establish cooperation and technical assistance mechanisms that allow an efficient, sustainable, accessible, safe, environmentally friendly, and comprehensive transportation system.

Among the commitments assumed by the ATU, it stands out promoting actions to boost the use of clean energy in urban transport, in addition to generating synergies that allow obtaining information on greenhouse gas emissions and local pollutants related to public transport services. These, among other issues, will help to make the benefits of having sustainable transport more visible.

Enel X Perú, for its part, will carry out dissemination actions on the advantages of incorporating electric mobility in urban transport, will provide technical assistance related to innovation and technology; in addition to studies, products, and services that promote the development of clean energies.

It should be noted that, as part of the zero-combustion gas emissions strategy, the ATU pre-published the Draft Standard for the Electric Standard Bus (BPE, by its initials in Spanish), through Resolution No. 02-2021, issued by the Directorate of Integration of Urban Transport and Collection of the ATU, and published in the journal El Peruano.

The main objective of this project is to establish the minimum technical specifications that promote the incorporation and renovation of public transport vehicles with cutting-edge technology and that, in turn, allow the elimination of polluting gas emissions, in line with the commitments assumed by the country, within the framework of the Paris Agreement, through Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), which seek to improve the quality of life of Lima and Callao citizens.
