- The commissioning of the underground high voltage transmission line L-6745 (SET Malvinas - SET Tacna) spans over a 3.1 km network and required an investment that exceeds 25 million soles.
- The L-6745 is located in the Cercado de Lima district and will benefit approximately 45,000 clients in this and other neighboring districts.
Lima, April 12, 2021. In order to increase the capacity and reliability of energy transmission to the central area of the city of Lima, Enel Distribución Perú commissioned the underground high-voltage transmission line L-6745 between the Electric Transmission Substations (SET) Malvinas and Tacna. The 3.1 km transmission line required an investment of more than 25 million soles and will benefit about 45 thousand clients in Cercado de Lima and the neighboring districts within the concession area of Enel Distribución Perú.
"This high-voltage line is one of the most important projects that we have executed since July 2019. Its commissioning will improve the quality of the electrical service and support the growing demand in the central area of the city of Lima”, said Javier Villavicencio Montenegro, Head of the High Voltage Construction Unit of Enel Distribución Perú.
The construction of this underground transmission line faced important challenges. One of them was making it possible for the civil works to cross the Alfonso Ugarte avenue through an area close to the bypass of the metropolitan transport system. To achieve this, the workers carried out horizontal drilling work at a depth of 6.5 meters and a 50-meter-long liner tunnel was built between the Jr. Huancavelica and the Jr. Sancho de Rivera.
Likewise, it is essential to mention that, once the strict quarantine began due to the global pandemic, the works were paralyzed to protect and safeguard the integrity of the personnel in charge. In July 2020, works resumed under the COVID-19 plan developed by Enel Perú and its collaborating companies, following strict biosafety measures and controls. This way, the project was carried out respecting the quality, safety, and protection of the environment, and the care of our cultural legacy in an area as important as the historic center of our capital.
