Lima, September 9th, 2020. Enel X Perú is committed to electric mobility to improve productivity, reduce healthcare costs, and take care of the environment. Thus, it has installed the first network of electric charging stations in the country, with more than 40 electric stations nationwide, which are located in 23 Peruvian cities: Puno, Ayaviri, Sicuani, Cusco, Ollantaytambo, Limatambo, Abancay Andahuaylas, Ayacucho, Ner Cosme, Huancayo, Tarma, Cerro de Pasco, Pisco, Lima, Barranca, Casma, Chimbote, Trujillo, Pacasmayo, Chiclayo, Piura, and Punta Sal.
The chargers located at these points are an example of the home solutions offered by the company and are intended to show their functionality, in addition to laying the foundations for the transformation of transportation in Perú. The electric stations installed have the capacity to fully charge an electric vehicle in approximately seven hours.
“With a full charge, electric vehicles can have up to 300 km of autonomy. Also, in addition to being environmentally-friendly by reducing CO2 emissions and noise pollution, these vehicles represent savings of up to 70% for their owners, compared to a car that uses diesel”, said Alejandro Barragán, Manager of Enel X Perú.
Enel X has various types of chargers for electric vehicles. Home-use chargers, like the ones already installed in these cities, stand out among them. Furthermore, the company is coordinating with capital municipalities for the prompt implementation of greater capacity chargers for public use.
Electricity stations are crucial infrastructure for the development of electric mobility. With the recent publication of Supreme Decree No. 022-2020 by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), the opportunity for their consolidation opens. The norm establishes the provisions to implement the future charging and energy supply infrastructure for electric mobility, which has the ultimate objective of promoting the change of the energy matrix in the automotive sector towards a more environmentally-friendly energy source.
