  • This new contribution adds up to the fund of over 2.2 million soles set up by the company to contribute to the fight against COVID-19.
  • This additional donation will help to meet the needs of many Peruvians in vulnerable situations during the health emergency.
  • The support will be channeled through six NGOs that ensure the well-being of children, youth, rural populations, and others.

Lima, May 2nd, 2020. In addition to the fund released in the framework of the “May our energy never stop” campaign, Enel Peru will make an additional contribution of about S/ 300,000 to various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) with the aim of helping them meet the needs of various vulnerable segments of the population in our country during the period of national emergency due to COVID-19. A few weeks ago, the electricity company also released a fund of more than 2.2 million soles to contribute to the fight against the pandemic.

The amount has been channeled to organizations such as Aldeas Infantiles SOS Perú, Fundación Pachacútec, and the NGOs EcoSwell, World Vision, Helvetas, and Ciudad Saludable, which will be destined to purchase basic foodstuffs, personal hygiene products, clothing, and tools so children and young people can continue their education virtually.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS Perú will use the donation to buy school supplies for children and young people in the Zárate, Callao, and Chosica areas. It should be noted that Enel's financial contribution joins the #YoDonoChallenge (I Donate Challenge) initiative, promoted by the organization.

The Pachacútec Foundation will allocate the contribution for the purchase of basic foodstuffs baskets for the Pachacútec area; while the NGO EcoSwell will allocate purchase baskets for families in the Piedritas and Northern Cone communities in Talara, in the Piura region, who have already benefited from similar products at the beginning of the quarantine.

NGO World Vision will also send a second delivery of baskets to the areas near the Ventanilla and Santa Rosa Thermal Power Plants, located in the Cercado de Lima. It should be noted that both deliveries were possible thanks to the contributions of Enel Perú workers, who donated close to S/ 100,000. This amount doubled by the company.

Meanwhile, the NGO Helvetas will purchase baskets for the peasant communities of Uchubamba, San José de Villano, Los Angeles, Yanayacu, Las Orquídeas de Pacaybamba, Marancocha, Unión Cóndor bamba, and Chacaybamba, all located in the rural area of the Tulumayo Basin in the Junín region.

Lastly, the NGO Ciudad Saludable will support 19 recyclers from Ventanilla, San Ramón and Perené (Chanchamayo) with food vouchers. These people are strategic allies of the "Clean Beach" and "Clean Rivers" projects, developed at the time by Enel in Lima and Junín, respectively.

Enel Perú pointed out that these donations seek to contribute to the efforts of the government and Peruvian people in the fight against COVID-19.

Enel continues to work during the emergency
