Lima, June 27th, 2019.- Enel Distribución Peru invested 23 million soles in a project that seeks to meet the growing power demand in East Lima, especially within the most populated district of the capital, San Juan de Lurigancho, as well as in Huaral. The project consists of the commissioning of new transformer banks in three Electrical Transmission Substations (ETS), which will also improve the service quality for 350 thousand customers in these areas.

The first transformer began its operations at the Ancon ETS, with 25MVA - 60/10 kV of power (kV kilovolts, MVA mega-volt-amperes, the measurement unit for electrical installations). Subsequently, a new bank of 3x60MVA - 220/60 / 10kV single-phase transformers was installed in the Mirador ETS, located in the province of Huarochirí. In the same way, the first three-phase power transformer of 50MVA - 220 / 60kV project was launched in the Lomeras ETS in the district of Huaral, north of Lima.

"One of our goals as a team is to make use of the best technology at our disposal in order to carry out our work in an efficient and safe way. The commissioning of these new power transformers is proof of this. These works were carried out in parallel, demanding almost 12 months of construction where no accidents took place, due to effective accident-prevention and environment-protection measures, for which we are very satisfied with its development and the benefit that it entails for our customers", mentioned Javier Villavicencio, Head of High Voltage Construction of Enel Distribución.

It is also worth mentioning that an ETS transforms high voltage power into medium voltage so that it can be distributed and, thus, reach people's homes, making them of vital importance for the power supply chain. The installation of the new transformers in the aforementioned electrical substations has allowed for a considerable increase in energy output, and therefore an improvement in the reliability of the power supply for the benefit of customers.

Enel Distribución Perú is a power company of the Enel Group, an Italian company with presence in over 34 countries. It has 1.4 million clients in Northern Lima, Central Lima and the Near North Coast of Lima.
