  • The concrete structure was removed and replaced by technical crew of Enel to prevent injuries and material damage.
  • We urge telecommunication companies to apply for the necessary permits before conducting any installation.

Lima, July 04th, 2018. - With regards to the fall of a public lighting pole at Las Colinas avenue in the district of Ancón, Enel Distribución informs that the incident was caused by the excessive mechanical stress caused by the unauthorized installation of cables by telecommunication companies.

“The affected pole had overhead telecommunication cables installed on both sides of the structure, which exceeded the maximum permissible stress and made it collapse and fall. Fortunately, nobody was injured; however, it was observed that such cables had not been authorized by Enel,” said engineer Julio Antúnez, representative of Infrastructure and Networks in Enel Distribución.

We therefore call upon all telecommunication companies that need to use an electric pole of Enel as a point of support for their networks to coordinate previously and apply for the corresponding authorization in order to avoid accidents that may compromise the wellbeing of users.

On the other hand, Enel will gradually remove all telecommunication cables that were informally installed in the electric poles within our concession area. Finally, we reiterate our firm commitment to provide a better service for the benefit of all our customers.

Enel Distribución Perú holds concessions for public electricity service in the northern part of Metropolitan Lima, the Constitutional Province of Callao, as well as the provinces of Huaura, Huaral, Barranca and Oyón.
