Rome, 18 May 2016 – Enel Group will offer innovative solutions for the first electric single-seater championship.
Enel teams up with FIA Formula E to promote the advancement of the championship’s power technology infrastructure.
Enel Group will provide solutions such as the optimization of green energy from renewable sources, and energy distribution and management to harvest each team’s data on energy usage.
Solutions for the Future
In order to place no extra strain on any existing electrical grid in the cities hosting the competition, Enel will create a transportable mini-grid. Enel will also provide LED lighting technology for the areas around each circuit and will set up charging columns for electric vehicles.
By the 2017/18 season, solar panels and glycerine-fed generators will be placed and connected to an innovative storage system that will distribute energy whenever needed.
Enel's Commitment
The partnership allows Formula E to become carbon neutral and the Berlin ePrix to become the first-ever carbon neutral motor race thanks to its zero emission of pollutants.
Formula E currently generates about 30 thousand tonnes of CO2 a year, equivalent to the average annual emissions of over 2,700 American households.
The Formula E Championship was launched in September 2014 and has an average television audience of 18.3 million people and an attendance of about 30,000 spectators in each match.
