The Italian corporation’s sustainability commitment sits at the core of its business strategy.

Rome, 24 August 2015 – Enel’s 2014 Sustainability Report was ranked “A+” by the Global Report Initiative (GRI) for the ninth consecutive year, which reflects its commitment to transparent and accurate sustainability reporting.

The Report includes a materiality analysis that makes it possible to evaluate how Enel's strategic positioning aligns with stakeholder expectations in regard to sustainability issues.

Likewise, the Report received for the fifth consecutive year UN Global Compact’s “GC Advanced” level for communication of progress made in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

Enel CEO Francesco Starace said that “focusing on the environment, social development and economic sustainability is crucial for the continued success of a global player in the energy sector”.

Sustainability Achievements

Now in its twelfth year, Enel’s Sustainability Report discloses the key achievements linked to its sustainability strategy. One example is the ENabling ELectricity programme, through which Enel contributes to the United Nations’s Sustainable Energy for All initiative.

The programme fights energy poverty by providing isolated communities and disadvantaged people with sustainable access to electricity through the development of innovative business models.
