Enel Group companies have the “Seal of Safe Company, Free of Violence and Discrimination against Women”.

Lima, 12 August 2016 – Enel Distribución Perú, Enel Generación Perú, Enel Generación Piura and Enel Green Power (EGP)—companies that make up the Enel Group in Peru—staged a sit-in outside their headquarters to protest against violence towards women, thus joining the #NiUnaMenos campaign.

“These companies fully agree with the objectives of the campaign. 30% of their employees are women and six of them belong to the steering committee”, said Carlos Temboury, Enel Peru Country Manager. It is precisely a woman, Patrizia Grieco, who is the chairman of the Enel Group, which operates in over thirty countries across four continents.

The sit-in complements the institutional video made in support of the campaign that Enel Peru has spread through its social networks.

Awarded for Gender Equality

In 2015, Enel Distribución Perú and Enel Generación Perú were recognised by the Peruvian Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations with the “Seal of Safe Company, Free of Violence and Discrimination against Women”, the highest honour granted by the entity.

To Temboury, this is not only an honour, but also a “commitment to continue promoting gender equality in our organisation and reducing violence against women”. “Our cultural identity is committed to integration by recognising and embracing individual differences. There is a way out of gender violence but it is up to all of us”, he added.
