Today Enel Chairman, Patrizia Grieco, and CEO and General Manager, Francesco Starace, awarded the 110 winners from 16 countries of the “We are Energy” competition at the Enel Auditorium. The event was hosted by journalist and author Federico Taddia.

The thirteenth edition of the competition, entitled “Score the Goal”, had as its main theme the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations for the future of our planet: 17 global challenges to be fulfilled by 2030 through the joint efforts of the nations of the world, businesses and individual citizens. Young people, with their special point of view, also play an important role and can actively bring about change.

For this reason, the young people involved in “We are Energy” took part in activities associated with the goals identified by the United Nations. They participated in the competition as Ambassadors, Reporters and Creators, producing, illustrating and designing many different ideas and solutions.

The initiative is open to Enel employees’ children between 8 and 17 years old. This year, there were over 4,500 entries and 110 young people from 16 countries that won the competition are now attending a 2-week international campus in Avigliano Umbro (Terni) which will end on July 23rd. This experience combines innovation with creativity, cultural richness and team playing, in an energetic and enthusiastic environment .

The countries involved are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Greece, Guatemala, India, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain and the USA.

In the past few days, the young participants had the opportunity to meet each other at the campus,  where they shared ideas and values in a series of scientific and creative workshops and during special sessions dedicated to team building, designing surprising mechanisms and expressive development through visual thinking. All these activities have been reinforced by contribution from Ryan O’Keeffe, Enel’s Director of  Communications and Ernesto Ciorra, Enel’s Head of Innovation and Sustainability .

The We are Energy online community is continuing to grow confirming a very active year, with over 1,850 members sharing more than 6,000 posts, while the official Facebook page has around 1,500 friends now following daily activities at the campus through videos and photographs.
