Enel has brought progress to people all over the world for more than 50 years. Since its foundation in 1962, Enel has worked hard to help people, businesses and nations thrive through access to electricity, gas and services that meet their needs.
In our constant effort to adopt new technologies that make our energy more reliable, affordable and sustainable, we are entering a new era for energy, where everyone is connected and has the opportunity to be part of and face the great challenges of the world.
We believe that we can have a positive impact on the great global challenges by multiplying the advantages we offer and by opening up. That is why our strategy is based on openness as a key element of Enel Peru's approach. We are Open Power to face challenges through an approach that combines sustainability and ultimate innovation.
Sustainability cannot develop without ongoing innovation, and innovation makes no sense to us if it is not oriented toward sustainability.
Just as sustainability is not only environmental, innovation is not only technological. Inspiration and innovation may be anywhere and that is why we constantly look outside our company: for ideas, for inspiration, for knowledge. We create modern collaboration platforms that allow everyone to contribute: from university students or energy start-ups to industrial partners from global multinationals.
Only by reconsidering the way we innovate, we can really revolutionise the industry and develop technologies and solutions that can shake up old markets and create completely new ones.
Open Power wants to open up the access to energy to a greater number of people, open up the world of energy to new technologies, open up to new methods of managing energy, open up to the possibility of new energy applications, open up to a greater number of alliances. We work in these ambitious projects with the enthusiasm of those who want to change the world. Specifically, our mission is:
1. To open up the access to energy to a greater number of people
We broaden our horizons to reach and connect a greater number of people to safe and sustainable energies, especially in South America and Africa.
2. To open up the world of energy to new technologies
We use the development and application of new technologies to generate and distribute energy in a more sustainable way, especially through renewable sources and smart grids.
3. To open up to new methods of managing energy
We develop new methods that adjust to the needs of people in order to help them use and manage energy more efficiently, especially through smart meters and digitalisation.
4. To open up to the possibility of new energy applications
We provide new energy-based services to face global challenges, paying special attention to connectivity and electric mobility.
5. To open up to new alliances
We join a network of collaborators in research, in technology and in the design of new products as well as in marketing, in order to develop new solutions together.
What's Your Power?
Today we have taken a step forward by asking a simple question: “What's your power?” Each of us has a potential, an ambition, a dream. Through an open question, we try to understand the personality, capabilities and creativity of people: by asking what their power is, we want to start a new relationship with the client.
The supply of electric power is just the first step, because we are much more: from smart meters that allow to optimise consumption based on demand to integrated public and artistic lighting packages; from smart agriculture fuelled by renewable energy and supported by electric vehicles and drones to smart grids and energy management services as a response to demand. To each client, their power.
Sustainability through Innovation
In line with the Open Power strategic positioning, Enel has put environmental, social and economic sustainability at the centre of its business culture and is contributing to the current evolution of the energy system with a sustainable development programme based on the exchange of creation of value inside and outside the company.
Sustainability, which must be achieved through innovation processes, is the focus of the Open Power strategic positioning chosen by Enel.
This strategy has led us to be part of the UN Global Compact through our commitment to contribute to four of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals: to ensure access to energy, to ensure quality education, to promote the economic development of the communities where the Group operates and to combat climate change by achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The integration of the protection of the environment and biodiversity in business strategies is one of the foundations of Enel's business plan.
Carbon Neutral by 2050
In 2017, Enel was among the top 20 companies in the Fortune Change the World List. It was the only utility and the only Italian company among those that are improving life in the world from a social and environmental point of view.
By 2030, green energy will meet almost 30% of the planet's energy demand. We are committed to renewable energy sources from hydroelectric, wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and cogeneration plants, and together with our partners we are developing environmentally friendly technologies.
Smart as the Internet
The generation of neutral carbon energy is not enough. We are also working in smarter, data-driven ways to analyse consumption in real time, distribute energy more efficiently, and provide brand new services. It will be as if we built the Internet of energy.
These smart grids only deliver electricity when and where necessary, thus reducing costs and waste while helping to protect the environment.
Daily Innovation for All
Imagine a world where your devices charge automatically in the middle of the night when energy is cheaper; where mobility is electrical; where lighting reacts to your movements; where high-speed Internet reaches even rural areas; where everyone can produce energy.
In an open innovation network, we work with a wide range of partners to make this kind of world a reality for people, companies and cities, and to develop services that have not been invented, yet.
Innovation is every creative idea, every improvement of our life, each contribution that comes from one’s power. Dialogue is our way of communicating, and it begins with the question “What's your power?”
