LED Lighting for Residents of La Punta

“LED lighting saves energy and helps reduce CO2 emissions, thus providing more safety for citizens”

Enel Distribución Perú has signed an agreement with the Municipality of La Punta, so that the district becomes the first with LED street lighting in Peru. To this end, 78 street lights have been replaced with others that reduce energy consumption by up to 30% compared to conventional ones. This is the first step for Lima and Callao to having the same lighting of the largest cities in the world.

LED lamps , which have twice the lifespan and a minimum maintenance cost, emit a powerful white light that performs better at night than any other system. Street safety is a very important issue for residents of La Punta and that is why this type of high quality lighting is a contribution to the peace of the neighbourhood and the visitors who walk along its boardwalk and can now use other public spaces. The district is becoming increasingly attractive, as quality lighting plays an important role in the development of a community.

LED lighting is a safe bet for sustainability, since it consumes a lower amount of energy, and also for innovation, since it keeps up its level of brightness at night, almost as if it was daylight.

Unlike conventional lamps containing sodium, mercury and other pollutants, LED lamps do not have the same impact on the environment, as they basically have electronic components that use energy to produce light instead of heat. No doubt, as years pass by and technology finds new ways, LED lighting will have a greater presence in our lives.
