Enel Distribución Perú Improves Street Lighting on Lima’s Main Avenues for APEC Summit

Published on Sunday, 13 November 2016

Lima must be ready to make the best impression on the high-level dignitaries who will visit our country to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings.

Lima, 13 November 2016 – Faucett, La Marina, Pershing, Ejército, Brasil and Costanera are some of the avenues, all in its concession area, on which the distribution company is currently working. Additionally, street lights in Downtown Lima are being replaced. This is all part of the comprehensive street lighting maintenance programme implemented in coordination with the city authorities.

The street light and the street lighting network renovation is done on a regular basis by Enel Distribución Perú. For the period 2012-2017, the output of 118 thousand street lights was increased and almost 60 thousand power poles were replaced for maintenance or as a result of car crashes.

In the Spotlight

The APEC summit is around the corner, so particular attention is being paid to the lighting of the avenues above, in levels superior to those set out in the Technical Guideline on Street Lighting.

“Given the importance of the world leaders’ summit for our country, and since we will be in the international spotlight, Enel Distribución Perú wants to contribute to the improvement of Peru’s image before the eyes of the world by lightning the city up”, emphasised Walter Sciutto, Head of Infrastructure and Networks of Enel Peru.
