Is it possible for a statistician to be in their element in the Human Resources Department? Lidylia Reyna proves it is. She uses this branch of mathematics to enter and analyse data that allow Enel to provide an increasingly better work environment.
She began working as an intern in 1996 at the Empresa Eléctrica de Piura –currently, Enel Generación Piura– and became the head of the HR Department.
“It didn’t take me long to understand that statistics is a tool that can be applied in all fields. I got involved in the activities of the staff, I found a very interesting world”. She even pursued a master’s degree in Human Resources Management and Organisation.
A few years ago, she became Senior Analyst of the Organisation Department, which focuses on regulatory management and organisational structure update.
Through regulatory management, every process involved in the company’s organisational units is recorded. “At the beginning of the year we do the planning, and we support each unit throughout the year so that they prepare regulatory documents on policies, procedures or operating instructions.
In 2017, for example, along with the Sustainability Department, they developed the Creating Shared Value Policy, which defines the guidelines that generate not only benefits for the company, but also for the communities the company interacts with and all Enel stakeholders.
To update the organisational structures, Lidylia supports each department in the preparation of job profiles, which include the roles of a job position and the profile of the person to fill it.
